White oak flooring is a design feature that creates an exceptional statement on its own. It’s an excellent choice to create a cosy Scandinavian image. The white floor is also a go-to for urban interiors with a modern and sleek approach. The ambience that white wooden flooring brings to the home is light and positive.
White wooden flooring in the interior: how to mix and match
It’s not true that interior trends in the UK complement the traditional décor only. The Scandinavian interior appeals to homeowners because it can be created in a few different ways choosing the same white hardwood flooring.
First of all, white floors nicely merge with the neutral colour palette. For instance, it can be easily combined with shades of whites and greys if we talk about walls. Various types of pale colour furniture would nicely accompany such a space. If you prefer wooden furniture, it can be an option when choosing tables and chairs for your kitchen, dining room or lounge. Accessories, such as grey or beige pillows, will blend with a stylish sofa. The preferable fabric would be linen or cotton. Like flooring, cheap items will wear out quicker than quality investment pieces.
However, it’s a myth that the Scandi interior consists of neutral colours only. You can play with bold colours and, for example, treat the walls with paint that will make them noticeable. The idea is to create a harmonious contrast.
If you’re thinking of a modern house image with a minimalistic approach, no other floor will contribute better than white hardwood. This type of flooring installed throughout truly compliments any crisp and clean, especially open space.

Ecohardwood floor technicalities
The shape of the wood is another important consideration. To achieve an urban look, we suggest looking into white oak patterns, such as chevron or herringbone. Ecohardwood ltd offers different widths (115mm, 140mm, 180mm, and 230mm) and lengths (575mm, 700mm, and 800mm) for the patterns. Choosing this type of hardwood flooring will also bring a fair share of elegance to your home.
For the more traditional approach, long white engineered oak boards will do the job. Although it is popular to go for a 180mm or 230mm plank width, we also offer 140mm and 115mm. Our planks also come in different thicknesses: 14.5mm and 18mm. Patterns are only available 14.5mm wide.
When you purchase white wood floors, there is also a choice of surface texture, for instance, smooth (sanded), brushed or cross-brushed. While some of the colours are only available in sanded (Nordic White) and cross-brushed (Modern Concrete) surfaces, it’s entirely your decision what look you wish to create, smooth or with a little bit of a texture.
Lastly, Ecohardwood Ltd supplies three available oak grades: character, select, and Prime. It may seem that engineered white oak flooring will look best in Prime grade without any knots; however, don’t rush to eliminate the rustic look, which celebrates the character of the wood. So what would be our best advice? When in doubt, go for the Select grade. The knots will be smaller and rarer, but they will still be there.
After all, wood is a product that radiates natural beauty, especially white oak.
